Knox Update - 6/16

Knox Update - over the last few weeks, Knox has been receiving weekly chemo infusions and has finished up a second full week of steroids. I often get asked (which I'm happy to answer and discuss) how Knox is doing. It's very difficult to really illustrate all of the details of how he's doing and what it's like, exactly, but I will say relative to his diagnosis, he is doing well, medically. Over this time, based on what treatments and meds he's on, he will feel better at times and worse at times. Recently, because of a second full week of steroids, he's felt rough. He's not totally inactive, but he's not himself completely, either. There are times of discomfort, nausea, a lot of restlessness, puffiness, taste changes, moodiness, etc. However, he continues to endure daily and that's faithfulness to God's plan for him. Tomorrow is a big day. He will get his next lumbar puncture (of which the injected medications make him feel rough for a few days) and he will have bone marrow extracted. The BM procedure just hurts for a few days afterwards simply because of how and where it's done. Because of that and the meds, I expect he'll continue to lay low for a while still. He's not expected to be in complete remission since that is not the temporary goal of his therapy right now, but given how his body has responded well so far, he very well might be. Whether he is or is not, please pray as you already have been, that the collective treatment will serve to be a cure for him and that in doing so, it will continue to be another means to proclaim God's glory and goodness. We are very thankful for God's providence in blessing us with the team of caregivers that Knox has and has had from the start. Please pray for them as they make their best judgements for how to continue his treatments. Please pray that his T cells (currently be prepared in Philly) will be ready sooner than later so we can get to that part of the therapy. Also, as we project a timeline of events, please pray for how to navigate the upcoming school year and the likelihood that he'll be in Philly for a large part of the first quarter. Thank you to everyone for prayers and for all of the very tangible support. You are being used to get us to the next day, next treatment, next moment. We are not living in despair, but in hope. Real hope of the everlasting, resurrected life purchased in Christ alone, and in temporary hope of Knox being healed very soon.
