Knox Update - 9/10

Knox Update - With great praise to the LORD, I am glad to say that Knox and I are home from Philadelphia. We actually got home Tuesday evening after reviewing test results with the staff at the clinic in Philly. The last couple of weeks really felt long as we inched closer to returning. Six weeks is a drop in the bucket in the scope of time, but the days often went slowly. However, we are super thankful for both the treatment option, the people who took care of us, the place we were provided to stay, and the means to enjoy our time there. Also, not lost on us, are the many children who require longer stays and more treatments. We both are thankful for where we are and praying for many others who continue to endure very difficult situations. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so it wouldn't take much to find current situations and families who are pleading for the life and health of their child.
We, too, continue to plead to the LORD for Knox's health. His test results, after one month has passed, have all come back as we desired. There are no B cells present in his CSF, bone marrow, or bloodstream. Please pray that this continues. Medically, we are looking for the absence of B cells for a minimum of 6 months, ideally 12 months, and anything longer is a plus. It was communicated to us that there doesn't seem to be a need for the T cells to be circulating and active for years, but we certainly need them for a while. Knox will have monthly checks and every 3 months he will go back to Philly to have his bone marrow checked again.
Knox has returned to school amidst significant mitigations, however, we are continuing to decide, ultimately, whether attendance is the best decision or not. Thankfully, he is feeling good, very active, and would appear to everyone as very normal. Again, this time over the next 6-12 months is very important for the success of his treatment, so we need wisdom to decide his next steps.
For ongoing prayer, please pray that his new T cells will stay healthy and circulate for many months and even years to come. Please pray that he will stay free from other normal illnesses. Please pray that his B cells will not return or recover and that his leukemia will never return.
We do praise the LORD and thank you all for continuing to endure with us.
