Knox Update - 10/3
***This was written on Saturday, the 3rd, so his start at the clinic is actually today, the 5th**
Knox Update - Knox is now roughly two months from getting his T cells in Philadelphia...those T cells recognize the B cells in his body and get rid of all of them, good and bad...so, when tests are done to see how his T cells are doing, they are looking for the presence of B cells...this past Wednesday Knox had bloodwork drawn and there are B cells present...thankfully, there’s no indication of his Leukemia returning, but it does mean that the T cells have given out...ideally the T cells circulate for at least 6 months, 12 is great, and anything longer is a bonus....thankfully, the B cells have not started to hide their markers so that means T cells can still find them and get rid of them...also, thankfully, he has extra T cell doses/boosters preserved just for this, not so uncommon, situation...therefore, he is headed back to Philadelphia tomorrow for (what we are guessing) 3 weeks...he will restart the process on Monday morning...we are expecting 4 days of chemo prep then to receive the T cells the following week...this was tough news for us to hear because at first it simply felt like the attempt at T cell therapy didn’t work...after talking and continuing to learn, while it’s a bummer the first dose didn’t last, it is a blessing and a praise to God that Knox can get more T cells, that he has not relapsed, and that his B cells are still presenting the marker the T cells are “looking” for...also, since this is a really busy work time of the year for me (Buck), Jessi is going to go with Knox for the first part of this...she is boldly going against what is routine and comfortable for her and needs our daily and consistent prayer...I am so thankful for her desire to serve our family in this way!! She’s a beast!! Please pray for Knox...while we are thankful he can receive more T cells, we do have that pit in our stomach, struggling to believe this is going to work and last, however, God is in control, and we praise the name of Christ, knowing He’s our only true and real hope no matter the circumstances...so please ask for Knox’s healing, ask that this time the B cells will be gone for 6-12 months, ask for Knox to have peace in his heart as this is no doubt affecting him...and ask for the Lord to fill all of us with peace to trust and keep going
